Al Safa of Safwa (SBL) agreed terms with 25-year old South Sudanese-Australian forward Madut Akec (201cm-89kg-1999, college: Detroit) for new 2024-25 season. He played last season at Knox Raiders in Australian NBL One. In 12 games just recently he had 4.4ppg and 4.0rpg. He helped them to win the NBL1 National title despite they ended the regular season at the second place. Akec also played for Association Sportive des Douanes Dakar (N1M) in Senegalese league.
He is quite experienced player. Akec's career allowed him to visit five different continents, while he played in six different countries. Akec tasted the life as a pro basketball player in Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa and of course North America. He has played previously professionally in Canada, Cyprus (Etha), Lebanon (Mayrouba), Syria (Al Karameh) and North Macedonia (Cair 2030 Skopje).
Akec graduated from University of Detroit Mercy in 2022 and it will be his third season as a professional player. He played also for University of South Florida for 3 years.
